奈特的天賦雖然一開始沒有辦法按照期待去哈佛, 但他沒有因此看自己不如人, 他對其他人也是一樣。當時很多水手也都沒有受過甚麼好的教育, 很多人因此覺得自己就是”笨”, 沒有所謂學習的能力….奈特經常鼓勵他們, 跟他們說他也是10歲就必須做學徒, 只能利用空閒的時間這裡學一點, 那裏也學一點慢慢的累積。我很喜歡這句話 “It did things to a man, Nat thought, to find out he had a brain.”
如果我在Google 搜尋美 Beauty 的定義, Meriam Webster 字典對美的定義如下 “the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit (翻譯: 使感官愉悦或愉悦地提升思想或精神的人或事物的质量), Meriam Webster 對美的第二個定義是 A beautiful Person or thing. (翻譯: 美麗的人或物)。這兩個定義都非常的主觀, 你認為的美跟我看見的美立基點根本不一樣。但若我們回朔到西元前柏拉圖(Plato)以及許多西方哲學家對美的定義, 我們會發現截然不同的看法。以下是他們對美的定義
